Hourglass Costumes
Helen
Fedchak of Hourglass Costumes,
has loved historical costumes, and has made embroidery since childhood and
clothes since her teens. This lead to an interest, in learning how the
silhouettes of various time periods were achieved through use of foundation
wear. She will make garments based on any time period, but she has special
experience with the Victorian era. The clothes can be adapted to modern day
wear, and can be made as underwear or outerwear. A muslin mockup, which is
mailed to the customer, is used during the process of making a custom fit
corset. Personal fitting is also available in Chicago, and as an added service,
she can visit the customer.

Corset at work
A large Danish supermarket chain has dropped all planned actions against one of
their female employees. They claimed that her wear of tight corsets at work, reduced
her ability to perform her functions. In return, the employee stated
that she is accustomed to wear of corsets, both at work and in her spare
time. Furthermore she emphasized that she wore the corsets less tight at
work, and that it has no influence on her working capability, or was similar to
other clothing items or physical aspects of other people. Her union added, that their members
underwear is a personal and private choice, in which the employer should and can
not have any interest in. And if the employees choices had any influence on
their work, it was regulated and protected by the "Equal rights act".
In a press release, a spokeswoman from the company, wrote that the employee was valued, and
performed her duties very satisfactory. The spokeswoman apologized and added
that the incident a complete misunderstanding, and makes it clear that it is not
company policy or mentality to interfere in the personal choice of their
employees.
As of today, 1.april, it has not been able to get photos of the employee, or any
comments from the employer.
